09 – BÜYÜK REEF
BÜYÜK REEF:
Fethiye Limanından 3 mil mesafede ana karadan 500m. açıklıkta bulunan mükemmel bir dalış noktasıdır. Bazı dalış merkezleri tarafından baraküda reef diye de adlandırılmaktadır. Görüş iyi ise reefin yeşil-mavi rengini çok uzaktan görüp 10-15 m. derinlikteki tepe noktasına demir atabilirsiniz, görüş kötü ve GPS yoksa işiniz biraz zor olacaktır. Dalışa başlamazdan önce akıntı kontrolü yapmanızda yarar var. Çünkü akıntı zaman zaman çok şiddetlidir ve keyifli bir dalışa izin vermez. Bölge her türlü avcılığın hedefinde olduğundan büyük balık popülasyonu oldukça azalmıştır.
Sığlığın tepe noktasından dalışa başlanır. Önce 12-15 m. den güney doğu rotasında gidilerek duvar bulunur. Dalışın en güzel yeri buradan başlar. Doğu yönünde devem eden dik duvarın en derin yeri 40m. erişir. Duvar oldukça renklidir, her tür yerli balıklar ve yeni misafirler çevrenizde oynaşıp durur. Meraklı cüce balon balıkları dalış boyunca yanınızdan ayrılmazlar. Duvar boyunca 80-100 m. İlerledikten sonra 35 m. deki kısa tünelden geçip yavaşça 20-22 m. lere yükselin. Burada durup çevrenize ve orta sulara dikkatlice bakın, baraküda sürüsü yakınınızda olabilir. Artık dip zamanınız dolmaktadır biraz yükselerek batı yönünde ilerleyerek 10-15 m. ye gelin. Burada dolaşıp dalış zamanını tamamlayarak tekneye dönün. Dalış süresince kaplumbağa ve akya görme şansınız oldukça yüksektir.

It is an excellent diving point, 3 miles from Fethiye Harbour, 500 metres from the mainland. It is also called Dalyan Reef by some diving centres. In good visibility, you can see the green-blue colour of the reef from afar and anchor to the peak at a depth of 10-15 metres. If the visibility is poor and if you don’t have GPS, it will be a little more difficult. It is useful to check the current before you start diving. Because the current can very violent from time to time and does not allow for a pleasant dive. Since the region is the target of all kinds of hunting, the large fish population has decreased considerably.
Start diving from the peak’s shallows. First, find the wall by going on the south east route at the depth of 12-15 metres. The most beautiful part of the dive starts here. The deepest part of the steep wall continuing in an easterly direction is 40 m. The wall is quite colourful, all kinds of fish, anemones and nudibranchs. Curious wrasse and yellow spotted pufferfish will always be around you during the dive. After going for 80-100 m along the wall, if you wish you can pass through a short tunnel at 35 metres and slowly ascend to 20-22 m. Stop here and look carefully around you and the surrounding waters, a school of barracuda may be nearby. Now, as your bottom time is running out, start ascending heading west to 10-15 m. Spend some time here and complete the dive within regulations and return to the boat. You have a very high chance of seeing turtles and amberjacks during the dive.
